Proudly announcing the formation of its 2010/2011 Advisory Board, Safe Ports is pleased to announce the appointment of two new distinguished members, General John (Jack) Keane (ret.) and Brigadier General David L Grange (ret.).

General Keane, a four-star general, completed 37 years in public service in December 2003, culminating as acting Chief of Staff and Vice Chief of Staff of the US Army.  He has played a key role in recommending the surge strategy in Iraq and is featured in numerous articles and books including Bob Woodward’s The War Within and Tom Rick’s The Gamble. Still active in national security, Gen. Brigadier General Grange saw significant combat action as a second lieutenant assigned to the 101st Airborne's Ranger Company in the I Corps Province of Vietnam in 1971. This unit was part of the 75th Infantry and attached to the 2/17th Cavalry. As a first lieutenant in 1972, General Grange was an adviser to the Vietnamese Airborne Division. In 1982, he was assigned to Delta Force.  In 1997, General Grange returned to Germany and took command of the 1st Infantry Division and Task Force Eagle in Bosnia, where he was responsible for U.S. forces and operations in Macedonia and Kosovo during the Yugoslav civil wars. In 1999, General Grange retired from active duty. General Grange will step into the role of Vice Chair for the Safe Ports Advisory Board.
