Lucy Duncan, CEO and President of Safe Ports, was invited to participate in the Hemispheric Conference on Port Competitiveness and Security: Finding the Right Balance at Storer Auditorium in Coral Gables, Florida. Lucy was on the panel for Tackling Security-Related Supply Chain Interruptions on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. She also introduced the speakers for the Successful Practices I: Competitive Port Security panel.
In a letter sent to Ms. Duncan after the conference, Jorge Durán, Chief of the Secretariat, Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) thanked her for her invaluable contribution to the conference. The contents of this letter can be read here.
This conference provided an international platform for public-private dialog on strategic actions that promotes efficient logistic operations while tackling relevant security concerns in the region’s port and maritime sectors. It iwas organized by the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (S/CIP) of the Organization of American States (OAS) in collaboration with the University of Miami Center for International Business Education & Research (CIBER), HudsonAnalytix, and the Maritime Administration (MARAD) of the U.S. Department of Transportation and with the financial support of the U.S. Department of State. The event addressed key aspects of port security in accordance with competitive technologies, operations, and infrastructure.
