LADSON, S.C., Jan. 9 (UPI) --
South Carolina-based Force
Protection Industries Inc.
announced it has partnered with
Safe Ports Inc. to ship spare
vehicle parts to U.S. military
customers.
Force Protection Industries is a
subsidiary of Force Protection
Inc., developer of Cougar and
Buffalo mine resistant ambush
protected vehicles. The
agreement with Charleston, S.C.-based
Safe Ports is an effort by Force
Protection to provide enhanced
shipping expertise in the
transit of Cougar and Buffalo
spares parts according to
military packaging
specifications and other
stringent requirements.
"This is an important agreement
for our continuing operations,"
Force Protection Industries'
Vice President for Integrated
Logistics Support Phillip Owens
said in a statement. "Safe Ports
provides the needed surge
capability to meet expanding
customer needs. Force Protection
Industries will be able to
streamline acquisition of
provisional data by gathering
weights, dimensions, lead times,
and special packaging
requirements for individual
items, as well as reduce lead
time and operating costs on
shipments."
With Force Protection's recently
announced ramped-up production
capabilities combined with the
Safe Ports agreement, company
officials say Force Protection
is attempting to increase its
customer based in the Iraq and
Afghanistan military theaters
where the majority of the
company's MRAP vehicles are
currently deployed.
"Safe Ports has brought together
a team of technology and
logistics professionals with
extensive experience on a global
scale," Safe Ports Chief
Executive Officer Lucy Duncan-Scheman
said. "We are proud to be
working with Force Protection
Industries to provide important
enhancements to their logistics
services, and look forward to
contributing to their continued
growth as one of the fastest-growing
companies in South Carolina two
years running." |
