Safe Ports was engaged to perform a Chemical Security Assessment to address specific concerns about a hazardous waste landfill site used by 23 states and Puerto Rico. Although it had been deemed as the second largest hazardous waste site in the
United States in 1989, it had reached its full capacity of 2250-acre feet of waste, it was finally being prepared to be closed, twenty years later. Our state agency client was impressed by our report and recommendations, stating, “The work
you have done exceeded our expectations,” as we established a roadmap for them which would continuously improve their processes, while ensuring that the process to close the site would be managed and monitored properly.
